Which camp are you in?
Have you noticed that around this time of year, there are generally two camps of people – those who are excited to plan and set goals for the new year and those who go about their day business as usual?
I’m normally in the first camp of avid planners, but when I caught the flu last week, I didn’t want anything to do with goals, planning or responsibilities. I just wanted to curl up in my bed and do nothing but watch TV.
And boy, was it a nice break!
It was a fun escape for a few days.
To be in another reality.
To be entertained.
To be led by Netflix. Next episode plays in 15 seconds…
Being engrossed in someone else’s story, someone else’s creation, made it easy to forget about my own story that I want to write.
And while it was fun to forget for awhile, I also knew that's not what I wanted.
I don’t want to look back at 2017 and remember it as the year that I watched the final season of Game of Thrones, Westworld or the next new show that comes out.
I want to remember 2017 as the year where I truly lived my life and surprised even myself at how far I’ve come. I want 2017 to be the year I fearlessly shared myself and my creations with others.
So maybe the two camps of people are actually those who claim their power to create and those who let their power stay dormant and wish or hope for things to happen in their life.
I know which camp I want to be in, what about you?
What do you want to create this year? Is it a new lifestyle that includes more traveling or healthier habits? Is it a new daily practice that involves more fun and joy? Are you ready to pursue a new career?
You have the power to create whatever you want this year. Harness the excitement and energy of the new year to set an intention for yourself and get started!
I’d love to hear what you’re creating for yourself this year. Share with me by leaving a comment below!
